アニメ『ヴィンランド・サガ』海外の反応・感想・評価【全12話】

今回は、2020年10月からテレビ放送された『ヴィンランド・サガ』の第一クール、1話から12話までの海外の反応・感想・評価をまとめてご紹介します。また、OPとEDの海外の反応も合わせてお届けします。

アニメ『ヴィンランド・サガ』は、2019年7月からNHK総合にて放送を開始したWIT STUDIO制作のアニメです。 監督はあの「進撃の巨人」や「オーバーロード 」で3DCGプロデューサーとして携わった籔田修平が務めます。さらに、シリーズ構成・脚本は「BANANA FISH」「モブサイコ100」「天元突破グレンラガン」などの脚本を務めた瀬古浩司。

また、「残響のテロル」「幼女戦記」のシリーズ構成・脚本を手がけた猪原健太も加わります。キャラクターデザインは「HUNTER×HUNTER」「うしおととら」の作画監督を務めた阿比留隆彦が担当するなど、経験豊かな顔ぶれが並びます。 原作は11世紀初頭のヨーロッパを舞台に、当時世界を牛耳っていたヴァイキングたちの生き様を描く歴史マンガ。

アニメ『ヴィンランド・サガ』の予告編について

幸村誠が月刊アフタヌーンにて連載を手掛ける『ヴィンランド・サガ』のアニメ化を前にPVが公開されました。 コミック発行部数は累計500万部を突破しており、第13回文化庁メディア芸術祭マンガ部門大賞、第35回講談社漫画賞一般部門を受賞している作品です。

制作スタッフには「進撃の巨人」や「魔法使いの嫁」のWIT STUDIO。美術にはファンタジア国際映画祭ベストアニメーション賞を受賞した「ペンギンハイウェイ」の竹田悠介。そして音楽にはTVアニメ「東京喰種トーキョーグール」で作曲も務めたやまだ豊などそうそうたるメンバーでアニメ化を実現。

原作の漫画「ヴィンランド・サガ　VINLAND SAGA」は、2005年から「週刊少年マガジン」より掲載がスタートされ、11世紀初頭のヴァイキングたちの生き様を描いた時代漫画です。
2009年に、平成21年度（第13回）文化庁メディア芸術祭マンガ部門大賞を受賞、また2012年には、平成24年度（第36回）講談社漫画賞「一般部門」を受賞しました。

アニメ化を待ちわびていた世界中のファンは、アニメのクオリティの高さに喜びの声と、「ヴィンランド・サガ」のクオリティで、「ベルセルク」を作って欲しいとボヤく人もちらほら。。

公開されたPVは海外ファンにも広く知れ渡り早くも多くのコメントが寄せられているので、さっそく一部を見ていきましょう。

From my years of playing Catan, that sheep trade feels like a ripoff.

カタンをプレイしてるんだけど、羊の取引が盗賊の動きに見えた。

the OST for the show is phenomenal. So calming and emotional at times, but fierce at others. Great work so far Yukata Yamada.

このオリジナルサウンドトラックは本当に素晴らしかった。落ち着いてて、感情の起伏にも合わせてたし。やまだ豊の仕事はまじ最高。

I’ve heard the name of the manga but I know absolutely nothing about this series. I genuinely did not expect this to be a show about Vikings! And while not a lot happened the opening scene was enough to hook me in.

このマンガのタイトルは知ってたけど、内容に関しては全く知らなかったよ。まさかバイキングの話だとは思わなかった！オープニングシーンではそんなにいろんな子とは起きなかったけど、ハマったよ。

Can I just say, even with the anime airing, the manga is absolutely worth reading. Incredible, incredible art. Like you wouldn’t believe.

もうアニメが放映されてるけど、これだけは言わせて！マンガは読む価値があるよ！画がまじで信じられないくらい芸術的だよ。

Have been reading the manga for years and seeing how good a adaptation this is seems so surreal.This episode and both ending and openings gave me goosebumps!

もう何年もマンガ読んでるけど、このアニメ化は奇想天外で大成功だね。今回のオープニングとエンディング鳥肌立った！

As a manga reader, watching this episode felt so surreal because I never thought I would be commenting on Vinland Saga.

マンガ読者としては、これをアニメで見るのがなんか不思議な感じだったな。ヴィンランド・サーガについてコメントするなんて思ってもみなかったな。

They’ve rearranged scenes to show Thorfinn’s life in chronological order, which isn’t a bad direction.

トルフィンのストーリーを年代順で見せてアレンジしてるのがマンガと違うけど、おもしろいと思った。

I swear to god, if anything happens to the sister.

妹に何かが起きるんだろうな。

Super hyped for this show!

めっちゃどハマりした！

We all knew this was gonna be amazing but … GOD DAMN

面白くなるってわかってたのに…まじやばい！

Probably one of the most impressive first episodes I’ve seen in forever, the production values were through the roof and the premise is such a breath of fresh air. I can see this becoming one of my favorites of the year, cannot wait to see how things go.

たぶん今まで見た中で一番インパクトのある第一話立ったな。プロダクションの質もずば抜けて得るし、設定も新鮮だね。きっと今年一番のアニメになるんじゃないかな。これからどうなるのかすごく楽しみ。

Great animation, great vocal performances, great characters, great concept, great everything!

すばらしいアニメーション、声優の演技、キャラクターもおもしろい、コンセプトも良い、全てが最高！

I like Thorfin’s family a lot, especially his sister who is kinda hilarious.

トルフィンの家族めちゃ好き。特に妹が面白すぎ。

I don’t want to overreact but… this is AOTS.

大袈裟かもだけど…アニメオブザイヤーだ！

That opening was LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!! the best opening of this season for sure ♥

今期、今年最高のアニメになるかもね。

Vinland Saga has been one of my favorite manga ever since I started reading it oh so many years ago. So I was never, ever in any doubt that I was gonna enjoy the anime adaptation unless they dropped the ball and started messing around with the awesome story.

もう何年も前からマンガを読んでて大ファン。アニメ版がへまをしてすばらしいストーリーをめちゃくちゃにしない限りは楽しめると思ってたよ。

They are respecting the story and the voice actors are very adequate for the roles they have to play. The art is very similar to that of the manga. And while obviously this show doesn’t have the budget for animation on part with the big shounen manga, it’s adequate.

アニメ化されたけど、ストーリーも尊重されてるし、声優もキャラクターのイメージに合ってたね。作画もマンガと同じような感じだしね。有名な少年マンガのアニメ化としては予算が足りなさそうだったけど、見ている限りでは充分な質だったよ。

that opening in England was brutal, geez.

イングランド軍のオープニングは残酷だったな。やべぇ。

I have no idea where this is going, but I know it will be great.

この後どうなるのか全く想像もつかないな。けどおもしろくなっていくのは確かだね。

The scene with Thorfinn and the knife is so beautiful and so tragic. The music, the shine of the blade, the look in his eyes, and then Thors tone. As a manga reader it was tearing me apart.

トルフィンのナイフのシーンはものすごく美しくて悲しかったな。音楽に、ナイフの輝き、トルフィンの瞳、それにトールズの声のトーン。マンガ読者としては涙があふれてくるほど感動したよ。

This is going to be one spectacular anime.

これは壮大なアニメになるね。

ASKELADDDDD you beautiful bastard

アシェラッドォォォ、お前はなんてすごいクソ野郎なんだ！

たぶんトールズはナイフの持ち方を忘れちゃったんだね。

The voice acting is superb

声優陣が見事だね

That talk between Thors and Floki was just so well done. Between the soundtrack creating more tension as the scene plays out, Floki’s VA doing a great job balancing between threatening and calm tones (the man’s voice is luscious): You could feel just how much pressure was being forced on Thors to join the war.

トールズとフローキの会話がものすごく良かった。サウンドトラックが緊張を盛り上げてたし、フローキの声優も脅すときと落ち着いてるときの感情のバランスの表現がすごく上手かった。（すごく心地の良い声だね）戦争に行かなきゃいけないプレッシャーがトールズにのし掛かる感じが伝わってくるよ。

Damn Thors’ reaction while everyone else is celebrating is really sad because we all know what’s going to come. Reminds me of the stories of how people before WW1 loved the idea of war and didn’t know its horrors

くそ、皆がお祝いで盛り上がってる時のトールズのリアクションが悲しすぎる。もう次に何が起きるかわかってるからね。第一次世界対戦前の人々の様子もこんな感じだっただろうな。戦争がまだどんなものなのかわからない様子の描写を見せるアイディアがすごく良いと思ったよ。

Basically everyone is has raised their death flags now and it’s only episode 2.

まだ第２話なのに、基本的に全員に死亡フラグが立っているという。

The pacing overall is pretty great and I think it was the best deciosion to start the series with the flashbacks. Fits better in terms of storytelling and how Thorfinn’s character is developing.

全体的なスピードはかなり良いし、フラッシュバックのシーンからシリーズが始まるのは一番良い方法だと思う。ストーリーの伝え方とトルフィンのキャラが出来上がっていくのを見せるにはすごく合ってるね。

That Flooki guy used to be quite friendly 15 years ago now he like a thug and those Soldiers were quite intimidating.

フローキは１５年前はけっこう人懐っこかったんだね。今や悪そうな奴と怖そうな兵士らの方が好きそうだもんな。

I do like how they decided to adapt the first chapters, it makes things flow better in the anime and it makes it slightly less confusing. Thors is a wonderful character and his wisdom will be felt throughout the entire series.

マンガの第一章の見せ方がすごく好きだな。アニメだと話の流れがスムーズだし、マンガよりわかりやすいね。トールズは本当に良いキャラクターだし、全体を通してかれの賢さが伝わってくるよ。

We are introduced to the scheming Floki and everyone’s favorite Askeladd. Throfinn is really eager to fight.

フローキの策略と皆が好きなのはアシュラッドだってのが見えたな。トルフィンは戦いたくてしょうがないって感じだな。

Damn! That was a better episode, compared to the previous one, but still lacking in any fighting or brutality. Also, the animation was top notch, as usual. Let’s hope that there’ll be some fighting in the next episode. 

すげえ！前回よりも面白くなってる。でもまだ戦闘シーンとかは少なかったけどな。あとアニメーションがやっぱり最高だな。次回にはもっと戦いのシーンがあるといいな。

Thorfin and the rest of the icelanders are gonna learn what real battle means soon. 🙁 So not ready for what’s about to come.

トルフィンと他のアイスランド人達はまだ戦争の本当の恐ろしさがわかってないんだな。まだ準備ができてないよ！

I watched all three episodes and HOLY **** Its not humanly possible to wait three more weeks

３話も一気に見ちゃって、まじであと三週間も待てないんですけど。

Man, I’m really liking this one so far. I’ve got to give props to the background artists and the colour usage as well. I can’t remember the last time I saw an anime with a palette and lighting that looked as realistic as this one.v

これはまじで大好き。背景画とか細かい描写、それに色彩もすばらしい。光とかがこんなにリアルに見えるアニメはここ最近見てないね。

When I saw the trailer for this series I thought that the pacing would be much more quicker. No wonder they needed 3 whole episodes to properly introduce it, otherwise they might have lost quite a bit of the audience.

トレーラー見たときは展開スピードはめちゃ速いんだろうなって思ったよ。でもアニメの序盤を伝えるのに３話分を充分に使ってたから、見てる側としては混乱せずにすんだよ。

Everything WIT touchs it a masterpiece God damn, one of my favourite manga’s ever and it gets the right treatment, sad that berserk got treated so badly, even more after seeing this.

WITが関わるアニメは絶対成功する！まじかー、一番すきなマンガだったけど、このアニメ化は最高だな。ベルセルクは失敗だったもんなぁ。

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ It was getting to a good part. Now I’m regretting watching this now. Should’ve waited for it to finished airing and binge it

いやいやいやいやー。これから良いところだっていうのに！三話全部一気に見なきゃ良かった。次回までこんなに待てないよ。

Damn, I feel so bad for Thor, Lief, Ari and the other guys. It’s obvious (by just watching the OP) that they’re all going to die and Thorfinn is going to end up on Askeladd’s team. I don’t really mind it since Askeladd seems cool, but it will be sad watching all the other guys dying.

あぁ、トールズ、レイフにアーレも皆そのうち死んじゃうんだよね、きっと。トルフィンはアシュラッドの軍に入るだろうしね。アシェラッドがこのままかっこよくカリスマ性があってくれれば良いけど、他の皆が死んでいくのを見るのは辛いな。

I love Askeladd so much, I’m so happy to see him in an anime format. The consistency of the adaptation is truly impressive, the whole anime is going to be an absolute treat, it’s ****ing magical.

アシェラッドめっちゃ好き。アニメで見られて本当に嬉しい。すっごくうまくアニメ化されてるね。ほんと贅沢だよ、マジカル！

 If everything continues as it is or gets better, it will be 5 for 5 of series I picked out from at the start of 2019 that I knew would be my top 5 favorites.

このままの感じでいくか良くなっていくかすれば、今年のトップ５のアニメになること間違いないね。

Everything is great, the characters are likable, the character design and background art, the animation, hell – even the CGI doesn’t bother me. The music is also great.

もう全てが最高。キャラクターも好感が持てるし、登場人物の設定も背景画、アニメーションもすごい。CGIも全然気にならない。音楽もすばらしい。

Can’t wait for episode 4 but this was really a good idea to release 3 episodes right out the gate – even if we have to wait a few weeks for episode 4. Great start to an already amazing series.

第４話待ちきれないな。けど、最初に一気に三話公開したは良かったかも知れない。何週間も待つことになったけどね。とにかくすばらしいスタートだったよ。

God this anime is absolutely insane so far. I cannot describe the urge to binge this show.. I praised the ending song of Aimer in episode 1’s discussion.. god damn I can’t stop listening to it.. but damn the opening is phenomenal as well. 

このアニメまじですごい。この衝撃を説明するのは無理だな…エンディングの歌はやっぱ最高、ずっと聞いてるよ。オープニングの雰囲気も良いね。

The pacing is actually perfect. I love how they take their time to setup the characters and story and not just rush into tragedy and forced drama in the first few episodes like many other anime would do. 

進むスピードは完璧だったんじゃないかな。キャラクター設定とストーリーを時間をかけて急がずに見せてくれたから、他のアニメみたいに最初の方のエピソードで無理矢理ドラマを見せてなくて良かったね。

**** me man this show makes all the other anime that aired this season look like a complete joke. 

まじかー、あんまりにもおもしろすぎて他のアニメがクソに見えてきたよ。

This was a brilliant episode! I liked Askeladd’s personality very much; it feels very disingenuous and witty. Furthermore, the VA has done an excellent job to portray his crafty feelings properly. And lol

これは本当におもしろい回だったよ。アシェラッドの性格がすごく好き。腹黒いしおもしろい。それに声優の演技もキャラクターにすごくあってたね。めっちゃ笑った。

I was expecting Homare to pop up in the first half to teach these amateurs some real survival techniques.

前半にﾎﾏﾚが出てきて、皆にサバイバル技術を伝授するのかと思ってたよ。

Good episode again this week, with a nice mix of laughs and tension. 

やっぱり今週もおもしろいエピソードだったな。笑いと緊張感がいい感じにミックスされてておもしろい。

Dark Horse of the season. Hope they can keep it up.

今期の予想外のヒット作だね。このままの感じで続いてくれるといいな。

I was hyped cause of the non mecha space theme. Though it’s not as serious as I thought, it’s still much better than I expected I love it so far

メカ系の宇宙モノのアニメじゃないからすごくハマったけど、思ったよりシリアスな感じではなかったかな。それでも予想以上におもしろくて大好き。

Amazing episode, I’m glad to see they’re keeping up the quality. They did an amazing job with making the cast likable as well

すばらしいエピソードだね。質がどんどんよくなってて本当に嬉しい。キャラクターも好感が持てるように作られててすごいよ。

This is easily on the road to becoming my AOTS, even with all the great shows around it.

今期はたくさんおもしろいアニメがあるけど、これは順調に今期最高のアニメになりつつあるよ。

I wonder how many more twists we’re gonna get through the series, feels like we’re in for a ride.

どのくらいストーリーにひねりが含まれてるんだろう。きっともうすでにちょっと捻られてるよね。

The visual aspect of this show is so good. If you watch it from a flat screen tv it will probably feel like watching a movie

ビジュアルがすごく良いね。フラットテレビで見てても映画のスクリーンで見てるような感覚がするよ。

What a great episode. They made everyone who had a focus seem more competent or give enough of their backstory to not feel to infodump like. Throw in some drama and character development and it just made for a great follow up to an already good pilot. Looking forward to seeing how episode 3 handles things 🙂

なんて素晴らしいエピソードなんだ。キャラクター皆にフォーカスが当たってそれぞれの能力とかバックストーリーがしっかり見えて、わかりやすい。ドラマの中にキャラクターの特徴もしっかり追い付いてる。第３話でどうやってまとまってくるのか楽しみ。

From the comedy to the drama to the action sequence. I love the vibe of the show, it hits the right notes. Rafaelli sisters are precious, good job on being the tsukkomi Quetterie

コメディーかあらドラマ、アクションまであってすごくおもしろい。雰囲気がすごく好きだよ。音楽もぴったりだね。ラファエリ姉妹が最高。キトリーの突っ込みも良い！

Seems like they could pull off a complete adaptation in 12 episodes.  Pace seems good for me since I’ve read the manga but it might be a bit fast for some people. They adapted nearly 5 chapters this episode.

全１２話で完結しそうだね。マンガ読んでるから、アニメの進むスピードは個人的には丁度良いね。アニメだけの人にはちょっと速いかもだけど。今回は５話分のマンガの内容が詰め込まれてたからね。

Characters are looking good so far, although we have yet to see much from Ulgar and Yunhua. 

まだウルガーとヨンファはあんまりでてきてないけど、キャラクター皆良い感じだね。

HAHAHAHA ARIES VA LAUGHING AT THE END OF THE EPISODE HILAAAAAAAAAAAAARIOUS LOL

ははは、エピソードの最後のアリエスの笑い声っめっちゃおもしろかった(笑)

this ep was an improvement over the manga for sure. good cuts better immersion, added a tiny scene as foreshadowing, sticks to the plot etc

今回はマンガよりおもしろかったね。編集も良いし、分かりやすくて伏線もちょっと含まれてて、筋がしっっかりしてた。

ive always liked quittery since she is a tsundere but capable of admitting faults and apologizing

キトリーはツンデレだけど、自分の非を認めて謝れるとこもかなり好感が持てるね。

It’s genuinely heartbreaking to see Thorfinn go from a wool-eyed kid who loved his father to an empty husk of revenge all while still being a child. It’s a good thing there’s all that badass testosterone around.

トルフィンが大好きな父親を想ってリベンジをしようとして、抜け殻のように真実を偽ってるのを見るのは本当に心が痛いよ。まだ子供なのに。周りに男っ気のある輩が多いのは良いけどね。

Every time I listen to the op my testosterone increases.

毎回オープニングの曲を聞くと血が騒ぐよ。

I love how Askeladd and Björn seems to have adopted Thorfinn now like this kid will for sure come and kill us one day but he got some spunk lets raise him as our own 🙂

アシェラッドとビョルンがトルフィンを引き取ったのが良いね！いつかこいつが俺たちを殺す日が来るだろうけど、今はその日が来るまで育ててみようって感じだね。

I hope its gonna be some confusing drama for Thorfinn later on how he cannot kill them as he gets older and understand they kinda helped him as well.

将来トルフィンにとって難しい選択を迫られる日がくるだろうね。大きくなってから、彼らに世話になって殺せなくなったりとか。

I wasn’t that sad when Thors got killed last episode, but seeing Ylva cry after working so hard broke me 🙁

前回のエピソードでトールズが殺され時はそんなに悲しくなかったけど、ユルヴァが一生懸命努力した後に流した涙には心が痛んだよ。

Poor Ylva…, that was the saddest part of the episode indeed. Together with the massacre at the villages… Too cruel, poor Thorfinn will get to see the worst of the worst, and he’s just a kid.

かわいそうなユルヴァ…あのシーンは今回一番悲しかったな。村の虐殺か。残酷すぎる。トルフィンはこれからもっと残酷なものを目にしていくんだろうな。まだ子どもなのに。

Man I just read the manga last week cause I couldn’t wait and I didn’t expect to see it so soon.

先週漫画読んじゃったよ。もう待ちきれなくてさ。こんなには早く展開するとは思わなかった。

And so, Thorfinn was conned to become a pirate. Fantastic episode.

えっとー、じゃあ、トルフィンは海賊になることができないんだね。おもしろいエピソードだったな。

This show feels l movie each time I watch it lol

Man this show is just so good. I really want to read the manga but seeing it all for the first time is something special.

eh, was pretty average. kinda gave off vagabond vibes with the whole getting ready for the duel, surviving in the woods, but less brutal. the revenge plot isn’t anything amazing, but we’ll see what more it has to offer

まー、普通によかったかな。バカボンドっぽかったけどね。決闘のために準備したり、生き残りをかけた森の中のシーンとか。残酷さはそこまでなかったけど。リベンジの下りはそこまで最高って感じでもないな。まぁとりあえずこれからも観ていこう。

I loved this episode. Even though Thorfinn has turned himself into a fine warrior, his father’s death still makes him more emotional, as shown during the duel. I also liked the scene with Thorfinn and the slave, it really shows how much pain Thorfinn has endured.

今回おもしろかったな。トルフィンが優秀な兵士になっても、お父さんの死に関してはやっぱり感情的になるよね。あと、トルフィンと奴隷のシーンも良かったな。トルフィンがどれだけの痛みを抱えてきてるのかがよくわかる。

And we finally meet one of the best character of the series, mother****ing Thorkell.

ついに今期最高のキャラが登場したね！トルケルまじやべぇ！

Thorfinn may have improved a lot combat wise, but is still not matured enough to not fall for Askeladd taunts. He will have to learn to overcome his rage over his father’s death if he ever wants to be a warrior capable of defeating Askeladd.

戦闘では強くなってるかもしれないけど、アシェラッドの挑発に乗らないくらい大人にはまだなってないみたいだね。マジでアシェラッドを負かすくらい有能な戦士になるには、お父さんの死を乗り越えないとならないな。

Love the village scenes too at the beginning. It shows that even though they are killer vikings, they still have some people that love them and take care of them.

最初の村のシーンすごく好きだな。人を容赦なく殺すようなバイキングでも愛されて気にかけてる人たちがいるんだもんな。

It’s fascinating and seeing Askeladd have fanclub is actually kinda funny.

アシェラッドのファンクラブがあるなんてなんかウケる。

What makes me wonder is what Askeladd thinks of Throfinn. It’s clear that he views him as a tool, but I don’t know if that’s fully it.

God that scene with Throfinn with the slave is some real depressing ****. Throfinn is basically Ylva’s age at the beginning of the show and that’s kinda scary.

全体的に良かった。トルフィンが決闘に負けた後にアシェラッドが何か意味深なメッセージとかあってほしかったな。

The duel was great and the animation sequences were great. Thorfinn totally fell for Askeladd’s provocation, it was so clear that he was trying to get Thorfinn to lose his cool and lash out and Thorfinn fell for it, hook line and sinker. Hopefully he learnt his lesson.

決闘シーン最高だし、アニメーションも素晴らしかった。トルフィンがアシェラッドの挑発に乗っちゃうのは目に見えてたね。めっちゃ煽ってまんまとはまってたな。これで何か学んだといいんだけど。

The little dream sequence with Thors was nice and I really liked the part where Thorfinn talked about Vinland.

The new characters not yet introduced are interesting. I’m expecting great things from them.

OMG Thors is back! Even if it’s just a dream. He’s the only thing that make me continue watching. As no matter how much Thorfinn grow he’ll never be as big as his father.

Askeladd just needed to use the right words to defeat Thorfinn. The guy is so blinded by revenge that he can be easily taunted.

アシェラッドはトルフィンを挑発するのに適格な言葉を使ってたな。トルフィンは復讐に燃えてるだけで、めっちゃ簡単になじられてたよ。

The scene with Thors on the boat was very touching.

Great episode, Akio Otsuka was great as Thorkell. The fight with Thorfinn and Thorkell was amazing. I think Arifumi Imai animated it, but I’m not entirely sure.

最高の回！大塚明夫のトルケルめっちゃいいな。トルフィンとトルケルの決闘まじですごかった。今井有文のアニメーションかな？わかんないけど。

One thing one can understand by watching this episode is that Thorkell is a beast, both mentally and physically. While Askeladd is also a warrior, he’s definitely more crazy and wouldn’t hesitate to kill anyone.

今回見てて、トルケルは精神的にも肉体的にも完全に野獣だな。アシェラッドも似たような兵士だよね。躊躇なく誰でも殺せるもんな。

Not to mention the fact that Thorkell loves fighting, as he wants to fight Thorfinn again sometime, because he claimed to had fun. I am really looking forward to seeing Thorkell again, as he seems to be a great character.

本当のところはわかんないけど、トルケルは決闘好きなんだろうな。楽しかったからまたトルフィンと闘いたそうだったし。めっちゃおもしろいキャラだし、またトルケル出てきてほしいな。

This was a really good episode that I think was primarily just to show how awesome Thorkell is and yeah, that is true. I love the big introduction for him this episode with just grabbing that soldiers head with one ****ing hand. Simply and fantastic way to show off his size in one shot.

Thorkell, what an absolute mad lad. I knew he was going to be awesome after the brief cameo he had right at the end of the last episode. The fight between him and Thorfinn was awesome – the choreography was great and the animation was top notch.

I really liked that shot at the end of the episode with Thorfinn holding himself in both pain and anger.

The piano during Thorfinn’s dream was so incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking. I think the sound design for the series overall has been amazing as well!

トルフィンの夢のシーンのピアノの曲が本当に綺麗で切なくなったよ。このアニメのサウンドデザインも全体的にかなり最高だよね。

Not the most eventful episode, but it’s certainly setting the table for one hell of a battle. I’m ready for Thorfinn-Thorkell II. Or Askeladd-Thorkell. I just want to see how they plan to somehow defeat that literal titan of a man.

I really liked the scene with Thorfinn and Askeladd. Even though Thorfinn doesn’t realize it, or maybe doesn’t want to realize it, Askeladd has become his father figure since Thors died. I really like the direction this series is taking.

That dream sequence was pretty haunting, how a beautiful landscape that Thorfinn wanted to experience with his family was turned to decrepit and cold as reality sunk in. This episode really did showcase some more great background work.

夢のシーンの、トルフィンと家族と過ごしたかっためちゃくちゃ綺麗な光景が古くて冷たいイメージに代わっていくところが、かなり怖かったな。今回はマジで何か深い部分を見せてくれたよ。

How did Thorkell defeat 4000 men with just 400? I understand he’s OP but even so…. Even Thorfinn couldn’t beat him but 4000!?

I like how this is one of the only mangas adaptations I’ve seen that respects pacing and totally its base manga atmosphere, the last time I felt this way was watching hunter x hunter 2011.

漫画のイメージ通りに展開してるし、マジで漫画の雰囲気も表現されててめちゃイイね。2011年のハンターハンター以来だよ。

I love the background music in this anime; especially in the calmer scenes.

Probably my favorite thing about this show is that everyone I’m supposed to hate has at least a few likeable traits about them. Askeladd and Thorkell are both awesome.

So is it just me or was this episode particularly fantastic. I can’t put my finger on any particular part of it that made it so fantastic, but rather a sum of the parts is greater than the whole kind of thing. I really freaking loved this episode.

Whenever I watch this anime, I could feel his homesickness so badly. Like that dream of his, he wants to go home but he is just fixated on revenge. By the time you finish each episode, it makes you sad for Thorfinn.

このアニメを見るたびに、トルフィンの故郷への思いが痛いほど伝わってくるよ。例えば彼が夢を見たみたいに、家に帰りたいのに、リベンジすることに執着して帰れないとか。毎週見終わるとトルフィンに同情したくなるね。

I’m so impressed by this story. It takes pretty incredible writing to make these very buildup heavy parts as engaging as they are.

I was honestly blown away by this episode in particular. No emotional music, no real fighting. Just talking and walking but holy crap it was gripping throughout. I’m so excited for when we reach the clearly approaching payoffs for some of these storylines.

Good episode, we finally heard Canute’s voice. To me, Canute seems no different than any other innocent people involved in this war. It’s pretty evident that he doesn’t like the situation that he’s in

Oh man, I love the dialogue. Such fascinating conversations and politics. I love the Wales conflict and geography.

今回は、アニメ「ヴィンランド・サガ」の第2クールのEDテーマ曲であるmilet （読み方：ミレイ）『Drown』に対する海外の反応をご紹介します。

曲名のタイトルになっている『Drown』ですが、意味は”溺れる”のかなり強いニュアンスで、歌詞全体から暗い雰囲気を感じさせます。ただ、miletの透明感のある歌声がそれを感じさせないところが、さすがといったところでしょうか。 カナダへの留学経験があるmiletの英語と日本語のミックスが気持ちの良いぐらいにハマってしまいます。
